Bon Echo - Abes & Essens Trail

With the second wave of COVID-19 raging, it's getting harder to find things outside. My friends and I booked our first ever backcountry camping trip for Abes and Essens Trail at Bon Echo Provincial Park.  Being an inexperienced hiker, I estimated it would take us about 3-4 hours to get to our site. Having started in the mid-afternoon, we were racing against the sunset to get to our site. Luckily we made good time on the trail. Although uneven, the little elevation change worked in our favour and was able to get to our site and enjoy the spectacular view of the early fall sunset. The next morning we enjoyed the sunrise and hiked back to our car early in the morning which took a little longer than our hike in.
